Lubbock police get a break in an apparent carjacking case on Monday, when one of the suspected thieves smashes the stolen truck into a TX Ranger's car in Lynn County. Officials say the driver and her boyfriend could end up facing felony charges.

It all started on Friday when a Lubbock man reported 2 suspects beating him up and stealing his white GMC pick-up from his home near 50th and University. Police were not able to locate the stolen truck over the weekend, but then around 10:00 Monday morning, the truck was involved in an accident at the intersection of US 87 and CR 2.

Troopers say 19-year-old Victoria Robledo was driving the stolen truck and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Harlee Childers was chasing her in another car.  At the intersection, Robledo failed to yield the right of way and smashed into Texas Ranger Don Williams of Midland. Williams was not Lynncrash22007-12-03-1196741316.jpginjured, Robledo was flown to Covenant with injuries, and Childers was arrested on the scene for outstanding warrants.  Lubbock police say the truck Robledo was driving was stolen on Friday. The owners of the vehicle tell us they were carjacked, but police say they're treating it as an aggravated robbery.

"Most people view a traditional carjacking as a totally random act by strangers. The individuals did know the victims.  The vehicle was taken at one point then brought back then apparently an altercation occurred and the vehicle was taken again," says Lt. Greg Stevens with the Lubbock Police Dpt.

We're told Robledo was treated at Covenant and released.  Both she and her boyfriend, Childers, could end up facing felony charges for stealing the car, but the investigation remains open.
