A child is in critical condition after a morning car accident.
It happened just before eight near the Slaton highway and Farm Road 835.
DPS Officers say 34-year old Bambi Williams was turning onto the Slaton highway when she was struck by 47-year-old Christian Shute. Shute was treated and released from University Medical Center.
The two young children in Williams' car were taken to covenant in critical condition...but the 5 year old was released. The 14-month-old boy is still at Covenant in critical condition but was strapped into a car seat which helped save his life.
Now, Corporal John Gonzalez with DPS says this is an important reminder about car seat safety.
"Buckle up those little ones properly in a car restraint system because we saw what the car seat did for this child and
eventually hopefully people will see that message and go across with it that we want the children in a car seat."
Now it's very important to install the car seat correctly.
