Lubbock's 100th birthday is coming up and on Tuesday, the city's centennial committee revealed who will be the face and voice of the year-long celebration.

It will be famous singer, song-writer and Lubbock native Mac Davis.

Davis was born in Lubbock in 1942, graduated high school here, and he wrote a love-song to our city that topped the charts back in the 1980's.

The centennial committee is planning hundreds of events that will kick off this March and end in March 2009 with a huge party.
