Levelland Breaks Ground On Its Industrial Rail Park

Folks in Levelland calling it the start of a railway renaissance. Ground was broken on the City's new industrial rail park. It will eventually span 300-acres and cost $8.6 million to build. That's being paid for by the Levelland Economic Development Corporation and with federal stimulus dollars, but over the next decade the park is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs and $100-million in revenue for Levelland and West Texas.
"The renaissance of the rail ya know it's coming back and businesses that need rail, we're here. We're gonna provide them a place to go," said Elgin Conner, Chairman of the Levelland Economic Development Corp.
A Colorado rail company will now install more than 21,000 feet of track. The rail park is expected to be ready for use by next September.
