A Lubbock man is behind bars - charged with successfuly plotting to kill his ex-girlfriend.

Police are saying he did it to get custody of their four year-old son. Lubbock police arrested Darren Wold, but it's really Wisconsin police that are linking him to the murder of his ex-girlfriend, who lived in Oconomowoc. They arrested Wold at his Northwest Lubbock home Wednesday around 8 p.m. He's accused of working with two other men to kill his ex-girlfriend, Kimberly Smith. Police say all of this happened while the two were working through a very bitter custody battle over their 4 year-old son. Smith's then boyfriend discovered her body on October 1st - bound and stabbed to death in the home they were sharing in Oconomowoc, Wisc. Neighbors living near Wold here in Lubbock were shocked to find out about his arrest.

"He's really quiet, never really talked to him at all. I've said hi to him a couple of times, but other than that that's about it," says neighbor Matt Walker.

Two other men are in custody as well for that Wisconsin murder, being held in a California jail. All are being held tonight on a $2 million bail.
