A Lubbock man is in police custody, accused of hiring another man to kill ex-girlfriend.

41-year-old Darren Wold is now at the Lubbock County Jail after police connected him to the brutal murder of his ex.

Wold was arrested Wednesday night at his home in Northwest Lubbock.

We're told his ex-girlfriend, 39-year-old Kimberly Smith lived in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin with their 4-year-old son.

Wold is accused of conspiring with another man, 65-year-old Jack Johnson to kill his ex.

Johnson then hired another man, 26-year-old Justin Welch of California to carry out the murder.

Smith was found murdered in her Wisconsin home back in October.

Authorities say she was bound and stabbed to death.

Following news of Wold's arrest, we spoke to neighbors near his Northwest Lubbock home.

"He just kept to himself, didn't give anybody else problems, as far as I know," Neighbor,  Josie Davis says.

"He was really calm, didn't seem like a murderer, that's for sure," Neighbor, Matt Walker says.

Wold is charged with 'party to first-degree intentional homicide.'

He's being held on a $2 million bond.
