CC-UTILITYWORKERS22007-12-05-1196909676.jpgThe City Council will vote on Thursday on whether or not utility companies will have to pay for street repairs they are responsible for.

Marsha Reed, city engineer, said that often the companies dig up the street, do whatever they need to do and cover it up without following guidelines.

The new ordinance would make the utility companies responsible for the patches of street they dig up.

Reed said in the long run, significant savings will be seen by the tax payers.
