FAS Signs Are Up

TABC is posting signs warning people about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS).

Experts say many women across the country just don;t know they're not supposed to drink while pregnant.

Drinking alcohol while pregnant can lead to serious developmental problems and deformities.

The Texas Legislature passed a bill this year requiring the signs to be posted on bathroom doors.

"If you think you are going to get pregnant or are pregnant, the safest decision you can make is to not drink," said La Nelle Ethridge of the Texas Tech Early Head Start Center.

Studies are now underway to determine if men's consumption can affect sperm and cause FAS.
