Tech Beats New Mexico In Extra Innings

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - It took extra innings, but the Tech baseball team, after being shut out in the Houston College Classic, were able to get back on the winning track. With two outs, Brian Capps hit an RBI single, and Tech beat New Mexico, 8-7, Tuesday afternoon. Both teams started scoring early. Tech took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, only to have the Lobos with a four-run scoring spree in their half of the first, and added two more in the second. Tech scored four runs in the seventh to tie the game at seven. Randy Gattis (1-0) got the win for the Red Raiders in relief. Tech (4-3) next take to the diamond against St. John`s on Friday at 3 p.m. at Dan Law Field.
