Tickets to see George Strait in concert sounds like the ultimate Christmas gift for Lubbock country music fans, but folks at the United Spirit Arena are encouraging fans to hold off buying them for awhile.
"He's right up there with Elvis," said Cindy Harper, associate director for the United Spirit Arena.
"He's an incredible artist and we'd be really honored to have him back in our facility."
Tickets are already being sold online for a small fortune.
We found tickets as high at $697 in Section 100, Row S, a row that doesn't even exist at the United Spirit Arena.
On top of that, the king of country has not yet confirmed the show in Lubbock.
"We would say it's pretty high that he will be confirmed in concert, but they're still working out the final details of the show-the tour, the routing, so the date may change and hopefully we'll remain in that routing," said Harper.
Before buying tickets, Harper encourages people to wait until the show is confirmed and buy from Select-a-Seat, the sole ticket agent for the United Spirit Arena.
"We do get nervous when we get those calls saying folks purchased online through another source. There's a possibility they may be legit. Folks may have bought these tickets from Select-a-Seat, and they may be reselling them. But they could be stolen. They could be duplicated, and they could be potentially invalid."
Once the concert is confirmed, tickets will go on sale six to eight weeks beforehand through Select-a-Seat.
