Seals Honored Again

seals2008-01-02-1199321795.jpgLUBBOCK, Texas For the second-straight week, Texas Tech's Dominic Seals has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, by a media voting panel for games from Dec. 23-31.

Seals recorded career highs of 22 points and 16 rebounds for her sixth career double-double as she led Texas Tech to a victory over SMU last week. Against the Mustangs, she also tied her career highs of three blocks and two steals and dished out a career-high three assists. The Dallas, Texas, native was near perfect from the free throw line, connecting on 8-of-9 attempts for 88.9 percent. On the year, Seals paces the Lady Raiders in scoring with a 14.1 average and a team-best 9.5 rebounds per outing. She is shooting 76.1 percent from the free throw line and 52 percent from the field. The 6-2 junior forward is Tech’s top shot blocker with 17 blocks on the season.

Texas’ Carla Cortijo picked up the Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for games from Dec. 23-31.
