Here in West Texas, hundreds of people are working to help the victims in Haiti anyway they can.  The community of Lamesa has raised over $6,000 in less than two days.  That money will pay for peanuts that will be made into peanut butter.  Lamesa peanut farmer, Jackie Warren has provided nuts that have already been made into paste, which is on its way to Haiti.

"We're blessed and the need is there.  We've been looking for an avenue, peanuts.  And peanut butter is a perfect fit," said Jackie Warren, Co-owner of Caprock Peanut Co.  "There is a surplus of peanuts in certain areas and it sure doesn't hurt to move them especially if it's for a good cause."

How will peanut butter help?  By providing victims with a nutritious food that's high in protein and doesn't need to be refrigerated.  Altogether, the Texas Peanut Producers Board has raised more than $70,000 for the cause.  If you'd like to make a donation give them a call at 800-734-0086 or visit http://texaspeanutboard.com/
