LOOPSIGNS-VO2008-01-14-1200366286.jpgInstallation is finally complete on TX-Dot's "Intelligent Transportation System."

Closed-circuit cameras were installed along the Loop back in October, and now huge signs are up to go with them.  The cameras keep streaming surveillance of traffic and road conditions.

When the city's Traffic Management Division notices a problem like an accident or icy roads, they send the signs a message to display to drivers.

Penny Mason with the Texas Department of Transportation says this system should help with traffic...especially with our growing city.

"I think it's great technology, I think it will help the flow of traffic.  I'm excited to see these things in my city.  And yeah, I think it's really going to help us a lot.  Proves we're growing."

There are three signs placed along the Loop and they can also post Amber Alerts and Silver Alerts from around the area.  The system is expected to be fully operational this spring.
