Police continue searching for the gunman who shot a Lubbock teen and fled the scene Monday afternoon in Central Lubbock. The 17-year-old victim remains in serious condition and his family is speaking out.

Police say 17-year-old Christopher Cerna and a friend were walking down 42nd St. to go play basketball when someone fired a shot from inside 528 42nd St. Right now, it appears the shooter was not aiming for Cerna/  Police believe an argument inside the house got out of control and the bullet went out through the window accidentally. Police have made no arrests in this case. Cerna's family says Christopher was a good man who worked hard to support his wife and 1-year-old child and they want the person who shot him behind bars.

"I just want justice to be served. My son's an innocent person. He was just walking down the street and you wouldn't think just to go play basketball would cause something like this," Carmen Pauda, the victim's mother.

Police have named Terrance Essix as a person of interest in this case. He lives in the house where the bullet came from and police have been unable to locate him since the shooting.  They also continue looking for the gunman.  He's described as a black man about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. If you have any information on this shooting call Crimeline at 741-1000.
