North Ridge Elementary has had a growing recycling program for about 11 years; spearheaded by science teacher, Debbie Zak.
The kids at North Ridge Elementary bring their recyclable items to school every Wednesday. Ms. Zak also says students reuse items like bottles and plastic utensils every day. Zak says if we can get kids involved in recycling at a young age, the world may just be a better place because of it.
"We have about a third less garbage that goes into our garbage dumpsters and therefore the landfill. So, just from a quantitative perspective, I'd say that we're making a difference,” says Debbie Zak.
