Most of us can get excited about a big rebate check coming from Uncle Sam.

Under a government plan to stimulate the economy, taxpayers would get several hundred dollars in the mail.

According to the proposal, people who pay taxes will receive $600 dollars in the mail, and couples who filed jointly, would get $1200.

You could also get an extra $300 for every child.

This plan excludes individuals who make more than $75,000 dollars a year or couples that make more than $150,000 combined.

President Bush could sign this into law by mid February, and that means we could have those checks as early as June.

House speaker Nancy Pelosi says this means 116 million American families would benefit from this plan, which would in turn, benefit the economy.

And many folks in Lubbock are already deciding just how they might do that.
