Former New Deal Police Chief Butler was back in Lubbock County Court Friday morning for a pretrial hearing. Last February then-chief Butler was indicted on four counts of credit card abuse, one count of aggravated perjury, one count of theft and one count of theft by a public servant.
Texas rangers had conducted an investigation on Butler since 2006....and the New Deal City Council fired him that December. He's accused of using a New Deal city credit card to pay for personal medical expenses, filing a workers compensation claim with false information, and stealing water from the city of New Deal.
Friday morning, his attorney Rod Hobson filed several motions requesting more information on the claims, including Texas insurance papers, and tapes from the New Deal city council pertaining to the worker's compensation claim.
Butler declined to comment. No trial date has been set as of yet.
