Rosendo Rodriguez will stand trial for the 2005 beating death of Summer Baldwin and her unborn child, and will do so in Canyon, Texas.

Judge Jim Bob Darnell filed an official motion for the move today.  In it he says:

"The court having considered defendant's motion for change of venue filed in this cause, the attorney for the state having consented to same, and the court having determined that there exists in Lubbock county so great a prejudice against the defendant that he cannot obtain a fair and impartial trial, it is hereby ordered that the proceedings in this case be transferred to Randall county, Texas, a county not adjoining Lubbock county for jury selection and trial."

It can safely be assumed that the intense media coverage of this case is the cause for this trial having to be moved.

Rodriguez is linked to two high profile murders of young Lubbock women, Baldwin and Joanna Rogers.
Jury selection in Randall County is set to start on February 14th.
