The non-profit organization Hearts and Hooves has five miniature horses that help rehabilitate the handicapped.  But around eight this morning, two pit bulls attacked the five horses in their barn on 24th Street.

One horse died from the attacks.  Three remain in serious condition with a veterinarian and one is stable tonight.  The pit bulls were caught and the owners contacted.  But horse-owner, Kauli Sparks says she still can't believe what happened.

"I think I'm just kind of still shocked right now.  I really lost it at first and because there was so many of them, four that are in such bad shape, I haven't been able to put my mind around it yet I guess."

The dogs are scheduled be put down and a dangerous animal complaint will be filed.
