Another dog attack in Northwest Lubbock County leaves three pigs dead. Jaime Quest owns the farm and one of the pigs killed in the attack. She says she raised her pot belly, Uno, from the time she was a baby, bottle feeding her, even letting her live in the house. After ten years with her pet, she was shocked to hear the news. "I raised him from a bottle and they are sentimental. He was my pet," says Quest, "my dogs are trained to behave themselves around livestock and it's a shame that people have dogs in the country that are not livestock or people friendly. This was just a ramapage!"
Sierra, one of the owners of the show pigs, came to the farm around six Wednesday evening and was the first to find the gruesome sight. Paw prints that lead to the three dead pigs. Sierra and another classmate were planning to show their pigs at the Houston stock show next month. Now they're left with nothing to show. The pigs were worth about $750 now, but that would change if they won in Houston, making them potentially worth thousands.
"All the work that they had put in and their hopes of doing well in Houston with their hogs", says Drue Farmer, whose daughter owned one of the show pigs, "it is about the money and the work but you really get attached to these show animals and I just feel bad for my daughter and Sierra."
Deputies believe one dog is responsible for the mauling and that dog is still on the loose. If you see any stray animals, you should call animal control at 775-2057 to report it.
