Two Cooper High students speak out about the vicious dog attack that killed their show pigs. The attack happened Wednesday afternoon at the Quest Stables in South Lubbock County. Sierra Ballard had gone to feed her pig, Templeton, and found the gruesome scene. Templeton, along with Kaitlan Farmer's pig, Bacon, were dead in their pens.  Authorities say there were obvious dog bite marks on the pigs and large paw prints throughout the barn.

The girls say they had planned to compete in the upcoming stock show in Houston and they're disappointed by the loss.

"It was so close and we put so much work into these hogs that it just sucks to not be able to show them, and not have them around.  We've been with them since November and they've kind of grown on us, says Ballard.  Farmer adds, "If people can't take care of their dogs and things like this keep happening, they should just ban the dogs. I mean it's not the dog's fault. It's the human's fault, but I mean it is the dog's fault because it killed something else ... and it wasn't like it was in there for dinner. It just bit them until they were dead and then moved on to the next one."

The Quest family also lost their pet pot-belly pig in the attack and the dog responsible for all this has not been caught.  The girls say they will get new pigs next November and plan to show them again next year.  If you see a dangerous animal on the loose out in the county you should call the Sheriff's office at 767-1441.  In the city call Animal Control at 775-2057.  In an emergency of course call 911.
