FLYOVEROPEN-VO2008-02-29-1204342694.jpgLubbock's tallest and longest bridges are now open for drivers.  TXDot announced the opening of the Southbound and Eastbound flyovers in the Marsha Sharp freeway project Friday afternoon.

They estimate the over 40 foot high bridges to have up to 13,000 drivers a day in the next ten years.  Randy Hopmann with TXDot says they've been looking forward to this day for a long time.

"This is a dream come true.  We've been dreaming about an inter-change and dreaming about the Marsha Sharp freeway and now we're starting to see the reality of it."

This phase of the project cost about 32 million dollars...nd they are now looking into funding to complete the flyovers connection to the interstate.
