Tech Shocks Texas

Lubbock, TX (Sports Network) - Alan Voskuil scored a game-high 18 points and shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line, including eight down the stretch, as Texas Tech stunned fifth-ranked Texas, 83-80, at United Spirit Arena.
Martin Zeno had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Red Raiders (16-12, 7-7 Big 12), who have won three of four. Charlie Burgess and Trevor Cook chipped in 14 points apiece, and John Roberson added 11 in the win.
D.J. Augustin poured in a game-high 30 points for the Longhorns (24-5, 11-3 Big 12), who had an eight-game winning streak broken. Texas is tied with sixth-ranked Kansas, who defeated Kansas State 88-74 on Saturday night, for first place in the Big 12 standings.
A.J. Abrams and Justin Mason tallied 14 and 13 points, respectively, while Damion James donated 10 and 12 boards in the loss.
Trailing 58-45 with 9:28 left in the second half, Texas scored seven straight points to trim the deficit to six, but a Burgess layup pushed the margin to 14, 70-56, with 3:30 remaining.
The Longhorns refused to go away, and an Augustin three made it 72-68. However, Zeno made a foul shot, and Voskuil made a pair from the charity stripe to put the Red Raiders ahead 75-68 with 1:03 on the clock.
After Abrams knocked down a trey, Zeno turned the ball over on the ensuing inbounds pass, resulting in an easy lay-in for Augustin, which trimmed the deficit to two, 75-73.
Mason followed up a pair of free throws by Voskuil with a three that cut the margin to one, 81-80, with 13 seconds remaining. Voskuil hit another pair from the foul line to make it 83-80 and Zeno fouled Augustin, sending him to the foul line for a 1-and-1 with 5.1 seconds to go. Augustin missed the free throw and J.D. Lewis grabbed the offensive board, but his desperation three came up short and Texas Tech held on for the upset.
Texas was in control throughout the first half, leading by as many as eight, 30-22, but the Red Raiders ended the frame on an 11-1 run to carry a 41-37 lead into the locker room.
The Red Raiders opened the second half on a 10-4 run, capped by a three- pointer from Burgess to take a 51-41 lead with 14:05 left. Texas Tech stretched the advantage to 13, 56-43, after Cook completed a three-point play with 11:03 to play.

Game Notes
The Red Raiders improved to 4-4 under Pat Knight...Texas Tech shot 42.9 percent from the floor compared to Texas' 40.8 percent effort...Despite the loss, Texas still holds a 68-53 edge in the series...The Longhorns remain one victory shy of tying the school record for most regular-season wins.
