An accident on Interstate 27 and the North Loop claimed two lives Monday evening, in what police call the worst wreck they've seen in fifteen years.
"It's so badly damaged we're not able to tell if the person driving was alone or not," said Lt. Greg Stevens of the Lubbock Police Department.
Police say an eighteen-wheeler ran a stop sign on the access road of I-27, crushing a white pickup truck and the two males inside.
Police have not yet released their names, and notified the next of kin around 9 p.m.
Emergency crews used to wreckers to pull the two vehicles apart, which had fused together.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to remove the driver and passenger of the eighteen-wheeler.
They were taken by Aerocare to the hospital, one to UMC, the other to Covenant.
Both are in critical condition.
