This year's tournament will be staged at the brand-new Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri for the first time. The Sprint Center opened in October, 2007. Last year, the event was held at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for the first time. Kansas captured their fifth Big 12 title and second in a row, as they defeated Texas in the championship game for the second straight year, 88-84 in overtime. The Jayhawks were the top seed, while Texas was seeded third. Kansas has been the top seed six of the previous 11 years. Kansas reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament last year before losing to UCLA, 68-55. Paul Pierce (1997-98) and Hollis Price (2002-2003) are the only players to win tournament MVP honors twice. The top four teams receive byes into the quarterfinals. 02/27 14:13:20 ET
