STATEBANKLAYOFFS-PKG2008-03-11-1205291722.jpgState National Bank will become Compass Bank on Friday.

The name change is part of a merger that has been in the works for the past year, but the new name comes at a price.

Between 70 and 75 employees will be looking for new jobs.

SNB's operation center facility in Lubbock will be closing.

Officials form Worksource of the South Plains said they have already begun helping workers move into new jobs.

Danny Soliz of Worksource said the merger is not due to any economic hardships.  On the contrary Soliz said many Hub City employers are having a hard time filling in vacancies.

Individual bank branches will not see any lay offs.
