On Thursday, Jason Valenti of Lubbock was given 50 years in prison for sexually assaulting his fiance's 10 year old daughter. That comes just a day after Lubbock man David Schoor was given 5 life sentences for sexually assaulting 3 girls under the age of 14. Texas is known for tough penalities for sex offenders and Lubbock county is no different. The state passed legislation last year that allows for the death penalty in cases of repeat sex offense. Niether Valenti nor Schoor qualified for that penalty.
