Ninety year-old Clark Todd is recovering at Covenant Medical Center, after dogs ripped apart his arm.

Wednesday afternoon, Todd was walking up his own driveway, but before he made it to the door, the dogs lunged.

Todd yelled and tried to fight them off with a garden hose, but that agitated the dogs even more.

Fortunately, a neighbor saw the attack and scared them off.

"It's one of those things you just don't anticipate happening, but it happens," said Doug Puttman, Todd's brother-in-law.

Todd sustained serious injuries to his arm, and underwent surgery for more than two hours Wednesday night.

Todd could be released from the hospital as early as
Friday morning.

Those three dogs are still on the loose.
