On April 14's mayoral debate, people will here from only two of Lubbock's mayoral candidates. The Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event, but only invited incumbent Mayor David Miller and Tom Martin.
The Chamber excluded candidates Roger Settler and Gilbert Montes.
When asked why, the chamber officials say they are taking the mayoral race seriously and that they chose the two candidates that filed in a timely manner and are members of the chamber on good standing.
Gilbert Montes said he was given a similar explanation, but says this does place some external control on people's vote.
Montes also said it does not look good on the chamber's part to not invite the two minority candidates.
