CITYCOUNCILpkg.transfer2008-03-27-1206671525.jpgLubbock's City Council is giving the green light for new water lines in the downtown area.

Aubrey Spear from City Water Utilities said the project will cost a little more than $5 million, and there will be road construction and detour issues for the next two years.

The project will help conserve water, and it will clear up some of the utility issues that keep businesses and developers out of the downtown area.

Funding for the new pipelines will come from the water utilities budget. People will not see any new unexpected increases to their utility bills.
