IRVING, Texas--Bojan Szumanski
(Texas Tech) has been named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, while
Zuzana Zemenova (Baylor) was chosen as Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week
for matches held April 7-13. This is the second career accolade for Szumanski
and a Big 12 record seventh weekly honor for Zemenova.

Szumanski, Texas Tech, Sr., #1 Singles, Opole, Poland Szumanski went 2-0 in
both singles and doubles while playing his last two matches at home. His
victories helped lead the Red Raiders to the biggest win in school history with
a 4-3 victory over No. 4 Texas. Playing No. 1 singles, No. 43 Szumanski snapped
No. 16 Dimitar Kutrovsky's three-match win streak with a win in the third set,
7-5, 4-6, 6-2, clinching the 4-3 upset over the Longhorns. He finished his last
match at the McLeod Tennis Center
with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Nebraska's David Bendheim. Teamed up with
Christian Rojmar, the fourth-ranked duo defeated Luis Diaz Barriga and Miguel
Reyes Varela (Texas) 8-5. The win ended a 12-match win
streak held by Texas in doubles point victories. Szumanski is
Tech's all-time winningest singles and doubles player with a record of 88-48 in
singles matches and 59-42 in doubles.
