After suffering through an eight-game
losing streak, the Red Raiders have now won two-straight and improve to 19-23
overall.
The Red Raiders answered the Aggie
run in the bottom half of the first when Jason Seefeld blasted a solo home run
to right field that tied the game at 1-1.
The home run was his seventh of the season.
Tech staked a 3-1 lead in the bottom
of the third on an RBI groundout by Roger Kieschnick and an RBI double by Tanner
Rindels.
The Red Raiders blew the game wide
open in the bottom of the fifth as Tech took a 9-1 lead thanks to six runs on
four hits and they took advantage of two Aggie fielding errors. Junior left fielder Chris Richburg and
freshman catcher Jeremy Mayo both added two-RBI singles in the frame to help
extend the Tech lead.
Senior infielder Jon Capuccio
pinch-hit for Hall in the eighth and helped the Red Raiders push their lead to
12-1 as he added an RBI double down the right field line for his first hit of
the season.
Freshman left-hander Robbie Kilcrease
(1-0) picked up his first career win on the evening as he logged four innings of
relief work and held the Aggies scoreless while scattering just two hits and
struckout a career-high six batters.
