Wayland Baptist`s Storey Named SAC Player of the Week

PLAINVIEW, TX - Wayland Baptist Universitys Danny Storey has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Jan. 29-Feb. 4. The 6`6 junior center from Canyon averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Pioneers to a 2-1 record, including a 76-70 win over #15 Lubbock Christian University. Storey posted double-doubles in all three games during the week and now has a league-leading 11 on the season. He had 22 points and 14 rebounds in the upset win at home against LCU, 21 points and 13 rebounds in the 86-73 loss on the road at second-ranked Oklahoma City, and 17 points and 15 rebounds in a 75-69 win at St. Gregory`s. On the year, Storey is second on the team in scoring with a 16.8 per game average. He leads the SAC and is second in NAIA rebounding with an average of 10 boards a game. The Pioneers have won three out of their last four games and return home this week to take on Oklahoma Baptist University on Thursday and John Brown University on Saturday.
