LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech swept a doubleheader beating Northwestern, 4-3, then Western Illinois, 12-2, at Dan Law Field on Sunday. In the second game, Roger Kieschnick hit his second career grand slam and senior left-hander Aaron Odom pitched six solid innings to lead the Red Raiders to the win. Kieschnick broke the game wide open for the Red Raiders in the bottom half of the fifth when he belted a grand slam home run over the bullpen in left field. The home run marked his second of the season and gave Tech a 5-1 lead. The Red Raiders added six more runs over the next two innings including four in the bottom of the seventh. Junior third baseman Doug Thennis gave Tech a 12-1 advantage when he belted a three-run homer over the fence in left field. Aaron Odom (1-0) gave Tech just what they were looking for on the mound as he allowed just one run and scattered five hits over six innings of work. Texas Tech will close out the 2007 Red Raider Classic on Monday afternoon with a 2 p.m. game against Western Illinois.
