A young boy is dead after he was accidentally shot by his older brother.
Ten year-old Chance Lightner and his eleven year-old brother were playing with a 380 semiautomatic when the gun went off.
The found the gun in their eldest brother's bedroom.
"He started turning white and I called 911," said Jerilyn Austin, the victim's grandmother
"He said 'kiss me Mama kiss me.' He said 'I want Jesus. I want Jesus.' and she said 'he's right there with you.' He said 'Mama I see Jesus."
Lightner died at University Medical Center around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The Hockley county Sheriff's Department is investigating the accident.
"We backtracked and found that the thirteen year-old found the gun at his grandfather's residence in Lubbock, had taken it without permission and hid it in that bedroom," said Sheriff David Kinney.
Chance's mother found the gun, and said she had arrangements to return it.
"We know that Chance isn't in our past. We know he's in our future and we know we'll see him again," said Austin.
The family has set up a memorial fund to help with funeral expenses.
