A copper thief has put the brakes on Lubbocks Meals on Wheels charity. This morning Meals on Wheels employees discovered that the copper pipe was missing after the temperature in their freezer began rapidly climbing. The freezer contains almost $30,000 worth of food. Theyre worried if they cant get the system fixed in time, all that food could go to waste. Meals on Wheels serves over 500 people in the Lubbock area, and they say they cant believe someone would hurt a charity organization like this. "Its very frustrating and disheartening that someone would do something like this that they probably thought was trivial," says Lisa Gilliland of Meals on Wheels. "I dont think they realize the impact that it can have on our functioning on a daily basis." Says Lorrie Bellair, "We just have to be watching for I guess people walking the streets doing malicious things, and this is just really unconscionable, its really uncalled for."
