Man Wanted for Aggravated Kidnapping on the Run Again

A Lubbock man wanted for aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence is on the run from police for the second time in less than a month.
29-year-old Jon Ray Rodriguez was arrested back in February for charges of kidnapping his girlfriend and beating her nearly to death. Police say they now know he presented fake evidence in court to convince a judge to lower his bond and get out of jail. When detectives realized the evidence was fake, they wanted Rodriguez back behind bars. This time for tampering with evidence. After a week-long search, Rodriguez surrendered to authorities in Woodward, Oklahoma on May 6th. An Oklahoma judge agreed to let Rodriguez out of jail again on a $5,000 fugitive bond that required him to turn himself into Lubbock authorities no later than this past Friday at noon. Rodriguez missed that deadline and police say they don't know his location again. Rodriguez's most recent victim says he's a dangerous man who needs to be locked up.
Megan Mask, who police say Rodriguez brutally beat back in February, says, "I really thought when he was strangling me that that was it that my life was about to end. This should not happen to another girl and I really believe the next girl, he will kill. It will be the end of her life so, we're doing everything we can to get him behind bars so, another girl does not have to go through this."
Rodriguez is already on probation for assaulting another girlfriend back in 2005. He also has a DWI charge on his record along with another separate aggravated assault charge. If you have any idea where he is tonight you're asked to call the Crimeline at 741-1000.
