One of Lubbock's "Ten Most Wanted Fugitives" is back in police custody tonight after miscommunication among law enforcement agencies set him free last week.    Early Monday morning, police in Woodward, Oklahoma arrested 29-year-old Jon Ray Rodriguez for the second time this month.  Soon, he will be extradited back here to Lubbock to face several felony charges, including aggravated kidnapping.
Jon Rodriguez is accused of kidnapping his girlfriend back in February and brutally beating her.  When he went to jail in Lubbock, he convinced a judge to let him out on bond by presenting emails from his girlfriend that appeared to exonerate him.  Police soon realized those emails were fake and issued new warrants for Rodriguez.  This time, for tampering with evidence and breach of computer security.  On May 6th, Rodriguez turned himself in to authorities in Woodward, Oklahoma, where his mother lives. A judge there had no idea the charges stemmed from the aggravated kidnapping case or that Rodriguez was considered violent so, he let him bond out of jail again.

Rodriguez was supposed to turn himself in to Lubbock authorities, but when detectives didn't hear from him for several days after his release, they knew they had to get him back in custody.
We're told Rodriguez has waived extradition so he should be back here in Lubbock by the end of this week.

Right now, it appears he'll be held on a $200,000 bond for the aggravated kidnapping charges, but authorities tell us he got probation back in 2005 for a separate assault case and if they can prove he violated that probation they may be able to hold him without bond.  We'll keep updated on that and his extradition.
