As gas prices soar, transportation companies are feeling the pinch too, and Lubbocks Yellow Cab Company is headed for a price increase. The company has 30 cabs that run daily, and drivers say it costs more than $50 a day to fill up. With prices rising and no end in sight, the company says its necessary to increase their fare rates to make up the difference, and theyre waiting for the ok from city council. "Its been tough," says Yellow Cab VP Steve Sexton. "Our drivers buy their own gas, and even though weve been able to raise prices a couple of years ago, thats coming to a point where its not going to cover it anymore." Driver Sam Jaramillo says, "Everything comes down to the consumer eventually, its gonna trickle down, and our prices are going up because were losing money."
