BAYLORBICYCLINGpkg2008-05-21-1211431068.jpgFive college students go the distance --on their bikes!--in support of a good friend. The Baylor students started the Alive Campaign after their friend told them he had attempted suicide. So they decided to take action, and give him hope. If they could get 250,000 people to join their Facebook group, they would bike from Waco to Anchorage Alaska. They got an overwhelming response, and theyre now riding to break the silence about suicide. "People started posting up pictures of family members that had committed suicide, " says Kyle Ferguson, one of the team members. "And that really struck a chord with us and made us feel that we have to do this. Theyre looking to us to do something about this, to get the word out there, and we cant let them down." Says team member Alyson Erikson: "It really is proof to our friend that theres something worth living for. You can have a great adventure, and the impossible for sombody can become possible if you just have the right people supporting you." The team started the 4500 mile trek Thursday, May 15th. They plan to reach Anchorage in late July.
