Tech Advances to 2nd Round

Oklahoma City, OK (Sports Network) - Martin Zeno registered a game-high 28 points to lead Texas Tech to an 81-71 victory over Colorado in the opening round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament at the Ford Center. Jarrius Jackson and Charlie Burgess both tallied 13 points for the fifth- seeded Red Raiders (21-11), while Decensae White posted 12 points in the win. Dominique Coleman scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the 12th- seeded Buffaloes (7-20), while Richard Roby contributed 17 points. Jermyl Jackson-Wilson tallied 12 points for Colorado, while Jeremy Williams chipped in 11 points. The Red Raiders shot 44.8 percent from the field and led for the majority of the first half as they took a 41-31 lead into the break. In the second stanza, Texas Tech connected on an impressive 23-of-27 attempts from the foul line en route to the 10-point victory over Colorado. Points from the charity stripe played a huge role in this matchup, as the Red Raiders tallied 35 points from the foul line, while Colorado made just 12- of-22 free throw attempts. With the victory Texas Tech moves on to the quarterfinal round and will battle the fourth-seeded Kansas State Wildcats. 03/08 18:25:12 ET
