Lubbock's Highland Community Hospital plans on keeping it's doors open despite filing for bankruptcy protection.
Court documents filed back on May 31st show the hospital owes more than $10 million dollars to it's creditors. That includes more than $2.7 million to the IRS. Today folks taking over the hospital during the bankruptcy filings confirmed they are reorganizing and are working on a deal with a group of doctors to buy the hospital.
Officials say there have already been some lay-offs and there could be more. But right now, their main concern is getting the hospital up to speed on its finances and maintaing excellent patient care.
