LUBBOCK, Texas - Sophomore Roger Kieschnick went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs to lead Texas Tech to an 8-3 win over No. 13 Texas A&M on Friday afternoon at Dan Law Field. The win by the Red Raiders evens this three-game series at 1-1. Texas Tech and Texas A&M were scheduled to play a doubleheader but the final game has been postponed due to inclement weather. The final game of this series has been scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. It looked like déjà vu all over again for the Red Raiders in the top of the second inning as the Aggies took the lead for the second straight day. Texas A&M plated a pair of runs on four consecutive hits from the bottom of their order to take a 2-0 lead. Texas Tech struck back in the bottom half of the third inning as the Red Raiders got key hits from Matt Smith and Roger Kieschnick. Freshman third baseman Chris Hall led off the inning with a double down the left field line and Smith brought him home with a clutch two-out single to left. Sophomore right fielder Roger Kieschnick then gave the Red Raiders their first lead of this when he blasted a two-run home run deep over the bullpen in right field. The Red Raiders plated single runs over the next three innings to grab a 6-2 lead. A pair of errors by A&M reliever Travis Starling broke the game open for Tech in the bottom half of the seventh. With the bases loaded, Starling tried to make a pickoff at first base but the throw went wild and that sent two Red Raiders home and gave Tech an six-run lead. Sophomore right-hander AJ Ramos (7-1) earned his seventh win of the season by logging seven strong innings allowing just two runs on nine hits. Matt Ueckert (1-1) suffered the loss for Texas A&M as he gave up three earned runs on six hits and walked two. Series finale scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday. (texas tech release)
