A Floydada man is dead after a weekend shooting, Now, Floydada police are left investigating the first homicide they've had in at least a decade.

Floydada officials are being very tight-lipped about this homicide, but witnesses tell us it happened around 2:00 Saturday morning, and two people were shot.  Those same witnesses say officers arrested one suspect, but it appears the man who actually pulled the trigger is still on the loose.
Floydada police are not releasing any details at this time, but witnesses are talking. They say around 2:00 Saturday morning several men were hanging around outside Serapio Ovalle's home on the 700 block of Grover Street.   A fight broke out.  One of the men left, and came back with a gun a few minutes later.  Witnesses say the suspect fired several rounds, hitting the homeowner and another man.   Friends of the victims say 27-year-old Israel Martinez died from his injuries, and Ovalle got shot in the hip and is recovering.
The investigators are not releasing any motive at this time, but witnesses say this may have been a drug-deal gone bad.
Again witnesses tell us they saw police arrest one suspect and they say police know who the shooter is, but have not caught him yet.  Floydada officials would not confirm this information, but we will update you on Monday when they're expected to issue a press release on this homicide.
