Area corn and sorghum farmers are speaking out against Governor Perrys plan to cut ethanol production in half. Governor Perry says turning more corn into ethanol is just raising food prices and the cost to feed Texas livestock. The Corn Producers Association of Texas claims ethanol is helping reduce the price at the pump, and without ethanol gas would cost close to forty cents more per gallon. "With seven billion dollars of ethanol being produced it means that people are going to have to drive less or were going to have to have more oil go in and more gasoline made," says David Gibson, Executive Director for the Texas Corn Producers Board. Tuesday, Governor Perry requested a reduction in something called the Renewable Fuels Standard. That would decrease the amount of renewable fuel, such as ethanol, in the nations gasoline supply.
