Local gun advocates say the Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling could open the door for legislation to be changed in several United State's Cities.
The Supreme Court voted that the handgun ban be lifted in Washington, D.C.
While anti-gun supporters say this will cause more violence, pro-gun advocates say this will give law abiding citizens the right to defend themselves on equal terms against an armed attacker.
Many pro-gun advocates say with the expanded rights comes a great deal of responsibility.
"It's a deadly weapon, and it needs to be taken seriously and handled properly," said Ricky Jones of Sharp Shooters. "I definitely think safety courses are one of the best things you can do."
Several other American cities, including New York and Chicago, have banned handguns. No word on whether or not these cities will follow suit with DC.
