breaking news
A toddler is fighting for her life tonight after nearly drowning in her familys pool. Police tell us the three-year-old girl is still under critical condition tonight at Covenant Medical Center. Neighbors described the toddler as being limp and blue when they carried her away. Sgt. Winters says they got a call around five this afternoon to go to a home on Avenue S. The baby was found in the familys above-ground pool. This pool is about four feet high and there is a step ladder leading up to it. Winters says there were two adults home at the time, as well as three other children. Winters says the "baby was found in pool in back yard, in the bottom of pool, family members pulled the baby out, baby was unresponsive." Jackie Delgado lives across the street from the family, and she spent time calming down the other children who were at the home at the time of the near drowning. Delgado said she would never forget the image of the child being carried away, nor would she forget the mothers face. This family is very distraught tonight and neighbors on this street are shocked.
