BADDOGGIEBAD_-VO2008-06-30-1214875875.jpgSunday night, Steve King lost more than just his dog. He lost a member of his family.

According to King and the Lubbock Sheriff's Office, three dogs got loose from a neighbor's yard and and attacked one of King's dogs.

"They were just mauling him,," said King. "Three of them just tearing him to pieces."

King attempted to break the fight up but was scratched across the arm by a pit bull.

He was only able to get the dogs off him after firing a gun at the dogs.

This battle is only one of many according to King.

This is the second dog his neighbor's pet's have killed.

"They even jumped my wife's horse," said King. "They just don't take care of them."

Because the pit bull drew blood, it was quarantined by animal services. The two mix breeds were left with their owners.

No more than twenty minutes after KLBK arrived to speak with Mr. King, his neighbors' dogs were out again and trying to get in people's yards.

A sheriff's deputy arrived later and issued a citation to the owners.

When asked about county ordinances, Major Don Carter of Lubbock Sheriff's Office said beyond the state laws and a few ordinances that concern protecting livestock, there is little legislation in the county books.   There is nothing concerning fence heights or restraints.

Members of the County Commissioners Court were not available for comment.
