Students at LISD pass the test when it comes to physical fitness. Not only did they pass, they surpassed the state average. These fitness tests provide parents and teachers with information about their childrens health. Lubbock students in grades 3 through 12, beat the Texas fitness averages in almost every category. Although boys in 10th, 11th and 12th grades fell a little below average. Some parents tell us schools should be doing more to fight the child obesity problem. Gary Gaines, LISDs Athletic Director, agrees. "But I think our PE teachers locally will take this and run with it and I think youll see our scores continue to get better as we go through this."
