The new Lubbock County Detention Center is well on its way to being finished! The $96 million project has been underway since last August, and the plan is for construction to be completed this fall. The new facility be 400,000 square feet and will hold almost double the number of inmates currently housed at the downtown jail. Chief Kelly Rowe says its an expensive project but well worth the investment, "Its not a popular thing in alot of ways, but its a necessary thing to have, unfortunately people arent going to stop breaking the law tomorrow."
